Epsilon Group, a manufacturer specialising in carbon-based products and advanced battery materials, has teamed up with Motovolt Mobility Pvt. Ltd., an e-mobility company, to provide sustainable mobility for their employees.

As part of the deal, Motovolt has offered electric bikes at discounted rates to Epsilon’s more than 600 employees and their families, including senior leaders and the workforce in Epsilon’s Vijayanagar township in Bellary, Karnataka.

This initiative aims to establish a sustainable commuting system locally and reduce emissions from traditional transportation methods. Epsilon has stated specifically that it aims to curb 945 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions over the next five years.

Furthermore, Epsilon focuses on enhancing the livelihood of the entire community by providing incentivised plans to encourage employees to buy e-bikes for commuting and local travel, aiming to cut down on fuel use.

Said Pratish Koparkar, Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) of Epsilon Group, “Sustainability is one of the key priorities at Epsilon Group, and we are committed to supporting the Government of India’s mission to achieve Net Zero emission by 2070 with initiatives like these and many more.”

As a chemical industry stakeholder, he also stressed the importance of a low-carbon ecosystem on behalf of the company. He hopes the partnership will exemplify Epsilon’s approach to sustainability and demonstrate its focus on responsible business practices.

Siddhartha Mookherji, Head of Growth and Strategy at Motovolt Mobility, expressed his pleasure in providing electric mobility solutions to enhance the lives of Epsilon’s workforce. According to his statement, “This collaboration underscores our shared commitment to advancing sustainable transportation and driving positive environmental impact in India’s evolving EV market.”

Established in 2010, Epsilon Group has focused on decarbonising economies and supporting cleaner technology. In 2023, its affiliate Epsilon Carbon received a Silver Rating from EcoVadis for its obligation to sustainability, placing it among the top 25% of all rated companies.

Founded in 2019 by Tushar Choudhary, Motovolt, based in Kolkata, manufactures electric vehicles. It has deployed almost 20,000 electric cycles and e-mopeds, enhancing urban mobility across India. The recent introduction of the M7 scooter marks Motovolt’s debut in India’s high-speed electric scooter market.
