Cree has launched a new lighting class LED in February 2011, designed for high output, small form factor directional lighting applications such as LED based MR retrofit bulbs, accents, track and down lighting.
Features and USP: XLamp enables designs with consistent colour, small form factors and unprecedented performance. MT-G enables 35–50-watt halogen MR16 retrofit lamps. In addition, the MT-G LED can be driven to much higher currents in less constrained designs, achieving up to 1525 lumens at 4 A at 85°C in warm-white (3000-K) colour temperatures. XLamp
MT-G LEDs are the industry’s first LEDs to be binned for luminous flux and chromaticity at 85°C, which can simplify luminaire design calculations and speed time-to-market. It has a minimum of 80 CRI (2700 K and 3000 K), and an electrically isolated thermal path with a wide viewing angle of 120º. Its major applications are in retail outlets, down lighting, hotels, museums and art galleries.
