Thursday, November 12, 2014: Wipro’s consumer care and lighting business is expected to end this fiscal year with the revenue of $1 billion (Rs 60,000 million), as the company expects that the newly promised reforms by the Narendra Modi-led government will start reflecting the results calling for better revenues in the second half of the year.
Wipro Consumer Care & Lighting segment reported the revenue for the year ended March 2014 to be more than Rs 50,000 million, following that the company had seen 25 per cent growth in the revenue in the quarter ended September. Vineeta Agarwal, president for Wipro consumer care & lighting segment said that they did 11 per cent increase in volume and had observed 25 per cent increment in the revenue on account of 10-11 per cent hike in prices.
Notably, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra and Gujarat are the states behind 70 per cent company’s topline, while 53 per cent of business is generated from overseas, including China, Indonesia and Malaysia. This growth may be considered as a threat for some major companies like Hindustan Unilever and Dabur.
Since major chunk of revenue is generated from international markets, the company is optimist about the several moves made by the Modi government for giving push to the pending projects.
