Philips launches 6th light lounge in Bangalore

Tuesday, September 09, 2014: Philips Lighting India, the country’s leading provider of lighting solutions, today inaugurated its 6th Light Lounge in Bangalore. Spread across an area of 1300 sq. ft., the newest Philips Light Lounge in Bangalore is an experience zone which gives customers a ‘see, touch and feel’ experience of a diverse range of more than 800 world-class home decorative lighting designs and concepts from Philips.Philips is buoyant about its plans to consolidate its retail presence in South India and will launch more Light Lounges in 2014 in this region.

Being at the helm of lighting industry in the country, Philips Lighting India has been driving the transformation to LED lighting at a very rapid pace. The new retail outlet in Bangalore showcases the full range of LED lighting solutions that have been designed keeping in mind Philips India’s commitment to improve people’s lives through meaningful innovation.

Commenting on the inauguration of the new Light Lounge, Rahul Taneja, Business Head – Consumer Luminaires, Philips Lighting India, said, “South is a very important market for Philips India and the opening of our 6thLight Lounge in Bangalore today reaffirms our commitment to the southern market in the country. Close to 90% of Philips Lighting India’s revenue come from products and solutions which are designed and manufactured in India for the Indian market. With 30% market share, Philips currently leads the lighting market in India.

With the launch of the newest Philips Light Lounge in Bangalore, the company now has 26 Light Lounges in Southern India and more than 100 Light Lounges in India, in addition to around 1200 Light Shops in the country. The market for decorative lighting is currently inundated with unbranded cheap imports that do not always satisfy energy efficiency and safety norms. Philips differentiates its offerings through innovation in design, energy efficiency and application of its global lighting application expertise. The product range starts from a price of Rs 575 and extends up to Rs 60,000.
