Saturday, September 20, 2014: China’s lighting brand, Opple Lighting, will soon make a debut in Indian market. It will offer range of LED bulbs and luminaires at a remarkable lower price as compared to the top brands in the market. Opple’s lighting India chairman S Venkataramani mentioned about the company investment of Rs. 55-60 crore over the next three years for building the brand in local market.
He said that the company’s LED bulbs and luminaires will be sold at 10 to 15 per cent lower price as compared to the similar products of Philips and Havells. He even told that the share of LED bulbs and luminaires in the market is projected to grow to 25 per cent by 2020 as against their present share of only 2 to 3 per cent.
The Shanghai-based Opple Lighting International Holding is working for its global expansion drive with its initial targeted markets being in Europe, Latin America, Southeast Asia and Middle East.
However, there are already many existing Chinese lighting brands in the country with none of them being the big brands. Opple will introduce lighting products like LED bulbs and luminaires for office, retail, street, home and industrial use. Venkataramani even said that they look forward to have local manufacturing set up in India as the sales volume goes up.
